/ About

George Foster Tufnell built the houses at 11-14 Cavendish Square in the early 1770s, and the Grade II listed pair behind No.11's door has since been a convent, a Jesuit college and, from 1996, the home of The King's Fund. Jacob Epstein's lead Madonna and Child still hangs over the arch on the square. The venue is run by KEHF Limited, the Fund's trading subsidiary, and takes private hire across around twenty rooms on four floors.

The range runs from a Georgian boardroom for twenty-four to the Burdett Suite, a self-contained space seating 240 at dinner with its own entrance, registration area and courtyard. Between them sit the Orangery, a glass-roofed hall opening onto a courtyard garden planted with a living wall, and the Green House, a ground-floor room built around a curved champagne bar. Catering is by Searcys and prepared on site. The house does not take dry hire and does not allow outside caterers.

The courtyard is the detail we like most: indoor-outdoor space this close to Oxford Circus is rare, and the Orangery and its garden together hold 280 for a reception. The house runs its own festive programme to a DJ and dancing, and the alcohol licence carries to midnight. AIM gold accredited, step-free throughout, three minutes' walk from Oxford Circus.
