/ About

Mall Galleries sits at the Trafalgar Square end of The Mall, on the ground floor of Carlton House Terrace, and has been the home of the Federation of British Artists since Queen Elizabeth II opened it in February 1971. Three connecting galleries run for more than 450 square metres at street level: the West, with warm oak floors and 5.3-metre ceilings; the East, cooler and more industrial, with exposed nineteenth-century steelwork and concrete underfoot; and the North, three interconnecting rooms under original arches.

The venue is taken whole for private hire, either as a blank canvas or with the Federation's exhibition left hanging as the backdrop. It holds 350 for a reception and 150 at round tables, and the hire runs to product launches, fashion shows, auctions, award ceremonies and press evenings as readily as to dinner. Catering comes from an approved list of houses; the galleries provide the PA and microphone, cloakroom, air conditioning, lift and ramp access, and a duty manager and gallery assistants for the evening.

It is a working charity as well as a venue, and every hire funds the Federation's programme of exhibitions, prizes and awards. Amplified and live music are permitted; the alcohol licence runs to 11pm.
