/ About
Jurema is the first-floor terrace bar of The Mandrake in Fitzrovia, a hanging garden of suspended jasmine and passionflower that looks down into the hotel’s courtyard and its Tasmanian tree ferns. The landscape architects Bureau Bas Smets designed it, and it won Best Outdoor Space at the Global AHEAD Awards in 2019. The bar pours ethnobotanical cocktails, and the plates come from YOPO Zaytoun’s Eastern Mediterranean menu.
For a private event the terrace is taken whole for a standing reception, or split into two sides. Jurema North is offered all year and Jurema South from May to September. From November to March the North side becomes the Jurema Winter Garden, closed in under a glass roof with faux-fur blankets and candlelit tables, the hanging garden still overhead. Private bookings run Monday to Thursday.
The terrace can also form part of an exclusive hire of the whole hotel, taken with its 33 bedrooms, its bars and its theatre.
