Information Technologists' Hall

The Worshipful Company of Information Technologists is the hundredth livery company of the City of London, and, unusually for a modern company, it owns its own hall. It bought 39a Bartholomew Close in 1998 with an endowment from the Shirley Foundation, and the Lord Mayor opened the building as Information Technologists' Hall on 20 September 2001.

The Hall stands in the medieval lanes behind the priory church of St Bartholomew the Great, a short walk from Barbican, Farringdon and St Paul's, behind a brick front that flies the Company's banner. Inside, the rooms are plain and modern and the Company's own history does the work. The Livery Room takes thirty-eight for a formal dinner under portraits of the first Courts; the Treasures Area next door holds the silver in glass cases and takes the drinks beforehand. Sir Tim Berners-Lee accepted the Honorary Freedom of the Company in the Livery Room in 2006.

The Company hires the Hall for seminars, small conferences, dinners and receptions. A third room, the Gold Room, is laid out around one table for twelve. Wi-Fi and air conditioning run throughout, and the Livery Room can be set to a top table, cabaret, theatre or boardroom plan. Enquiries go to the Company's events coordinator.
