/ About
Henry’s Townhouse is a six-bedroom Georgian house at 24 Upper Berkeley Street, a few minutes from Hyde Park. Jane and Steven Collins of The Collins Collection, who also own Temple Guiting Manor in the Cotswolds, restored the Grade II listed building with interiors by Russell Sage Studio. The owners name each bedroom for a member of the Austen family, after Henry Austen, Jane Austen’s brother, who once lived at this address.
The house is hired whole. Six bedrooms sleep up to 12 guests, and the reception rooms run one into the next: Jane’s Reading Room, the largest, off the entrance hall with a crystal chandelier and tall Georgian windows; Henry’s Drawing Room in velvets and stripes; the Carriage Snug on the first-floor landing, styled after a railway carriage; and a small terrace off the second floor. Monsieur Halavant’s Pantry, the panelled kitchen and dining room, seats 14 at one refectory table beside an Aga.
For an occasion, the house takes standing receptions of up to 28 across the reception rooms and dinners of up to 14 in the Pantry, with a small house team and a chef. It can also be taken by the day or the evening for a private dinner, a meeting, a product launch or a shoot.
