/ About

Great Central Pub takes its name from the railway hotel that opened on this site in 1899, and it is the one room at The Landmark that keeps that history in the fabric: full-height oak panelling, an ornate moulded plaster ceiling, cut-glass chandeliers over the tables and a long bar running the length of the back wall. Leather banquettes and low armchairs fill the front of the room; the bar seats a row of stools at the counter.

Chef Patron Matt Fletcher cooks British pub food here, built on seasonal produce from local suppliers, with a Sunday roast and a weekly specials list. Doors open at four on weekdays and at noon at the weekend, and walk-ins are welcome alongside bookings.

It is the most straightforwardly sociable of the hotel's four rooms, and the one that takes the largest group. The pub handles bookings of up to a hundred guests through the Chef Patron directly, with group dining, private dining and family-style feasting all available.
