/ About
Café Deco is Anna Tobias's first solo restaurant, opened on Store Street in November 2020 with the team behind 40 Maltby Street. It kept the name of the shop it replaced. The room is small and pale: a pastel tiled floor, globe wall lights, bentwood chairs, and a line-drawn frieze running along the top of the wall. Wine fills the shelves at the front, which doubles as a shop.
The menu changes with the season and the cooking is direct. Stews, pies, whole fish, a daily blackboard special. The list leans to low-intervention growers. Time Out placed it 48th in its 50 Best Restaurants in London for 2026, and the MICHELIN Guide describes the ambience as that of a buzzing little bistro. The British Museum is around the corner.
There are two ways to take it privately. The downstairs dining room seats 10 to 25, white cloths on parquet with a chenille curtain at the door. Take both floors and the whole restaurant is yours, 26 to 55 guests. Private menus are seasonal and served family style, with three tiers to choose from, and the kitchen caters for dietary requirements given notice. Lunch and dinner, Monday to Saturday.
