The V&A gives Elsa Schiaparelli her first exhibition in this country, in the Sainsbury Gallery to Sunday 8 November 2026. It runs from the house’s 1920s beginnings to the couture Daniel Roseberry now makes under the name, and the through-line is the collaborations: the Tears dress and the Skeleton dress made with Dalí in 1938, the evening coat embroidered to a Cocteau drawing in 1937, Man Ray’s 1933 portrait of the designer. Weekday tickets are £28 and weekend £30, with members admitted free. Schiaparelli’s own line on it is the exhibition’s title in her words: for her, dress designing was not a profession but an art.
