The public alone decides the National Television Awards, and in 2025 it gave Adolescence the New Drama prize and Gary Lineker the TV Presenter award at The O2.
The National Television Awards, the British television prize decided by public vote alone, held their 30th ceremony at The O2 arena in North Greenwich on Wednesday 10 September 2025.
The first ceremony was held at the Wembley Conference Centre in August 1995, hosted by Eamonn Holmes. From 1996 the awards moved to the Royal Albert Hall, where Trevor McDonald presented for 12 years.
They have been at The O2 since 2010, apart from a single year at Wembley in 2022. Indigo Television produced the 2025 ceremony for ITV.
There is no jury or industry panel, so a soap can beat a prestige drama and a daytime programme can beat a primetime one. Viewers settled the result before the night began.
Joel Dommett hosted for the fifth year running, and McFly performed. Adolescence won New Drama, Owen Cooper took Drama Performance for it, and Call the Midwife won Returning Drama.
EastEnders won Serial Drama and Gavin & Stacey won Comedy. Gary Lineker won TV Presenter, ending a run of wins by Ant & Dec that had lasted more than two decades.
