The Women's HSBC Championships 2027

Women played at the Queen’s Club from the moment the tournament moved there in 1890, in a singles event alongside the men’s, and mixed doubles followed in 1905 and a women’s doubles in 1915. The women’s draw then disappeared from the schedule for the better part of a century. It returned in 2025, so the 2027 edition is among the first of the restored era, and the club now stages a women’s grass-court tournament on the same lawns in the same fortnight as the men’s.

That restoration matters more than a scheduling note suggests. The women’s grass season had been thin to the point of absurdity, with almost nowhere in Britain to prepare for Wimbledon, and a tournament at the Queen’s Club is the difference between arriving at the All England Club match-fit on grass and arriving having practised on it.

The 2027 tournament runs from Tuesday 1 June at the Queen’s Club in West Kensington, ahead of the men’s week on the same courts. The grounds are among the smallest on the tour at this level, which puts a spectator closer to the players than at any of the majors. The courts are the club’s own championship grass, cut for this fortnight and then returned to the members. The event sits in the WTA 500 series of the tour.
