Honey Dijon was born Honey Redmond in Chicago in 1968, which is to say she grew up inside house music at the point it was being invented, and was taught by Derrick Carter and Mark Farina before she left. She moved to New York in the late 1990s, fell in with Danny Tenaglia, and came out as transgender shortly after arriving. She has been playing ever since, and has been at various times a fashion-house fixture, a remixer for Bowie, Dua Lipa and Madonna, and the winner of a Grammy for her work on Beyoncé’s Renaissance in 2023.

The DJing is the constant and the reason to go. She plays across the whole history of the music rather than a slice of it — Chicago house, disco, techno, the records that made the New York rooms — and she does it with a sense of occasion that has almost gone out of the form. She has released two albums of her own alongside the DJing, both built with singers rather than around samples.

She takes Magazine London on the Greenwich Peninsula on Saturday 31 October 2026 for an extended set hosted by The Hydra, on Halloween, with an over-18 door. Extended is the operative word: the long set is where a DJ of her range gets to make an argument rather than a selection.
