Gordo is Diamanté Blackmon, born in Washington DC in 1991 to Nicaraguan parents, raised partly by his mother and aunt in Guatemala and partly in Frederick, Maryland, and playing small clubs there at sixteen. He spent the decade after 2012 as Carnage, one of the loudest names in American festival electronica: “Bricks” with Migos, “Toca”, a first album that went to the top of the American dance chart in 2015, and a main-stage career built on volume.

In 2022 he retired the name. Gordo is the second act and a different one — rolling house with Latin rhythms underneath, played long, built for a dark room rather than a festival field. The pivot cost him the slots that made him and won him the clubs, and the sets he is now known for are the ones that run all night. The Carnage catalogue is still played by people who have no idea the two names belong to one man.

He takes KOKO’s Theatre on Friday 11 September 2026 from ten until five, under the venue’s Electronic Nights strand, and it is a return rather than a first visit. Seven hours is the point of booking him: the long set is the form he moved genres to be able to play. The door is over-19 and physical photographic identification is the only kind accepted.
