The Spanish actress and philanthropist María Bravo founded the Global Gift Foundation in 2013 to work with children, women and families in vulnerable circumstances. It began by funding other charities and grew into running its own projects, and operates through a gala that moves between cities rather than a single annual night, presenting a Humanitarian Award at each one. A travelling gala is an unusual model and it changes what the evening is. There is no home city and no fixed committee, so the room is assembled fresh each time from whoever the foundation can convene locally, which makes a London edition a statement that the foundation intends to return, rather than a fixture already in the diary.
The 2026 gala has cocktails and a red carpet followed by dinner, performances and a live auction, black tie, at the Kimpton Fitzroy on Russell Square. London had an edition every year from 2011 to 2019, and this is the first since; a Sunday is an unusual night for a black-tie dinner in this city. The foundation now runs galas in several countries and funds its own projects from them.
