The Gallagher PREM Final is played at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham, on Saturday 19 June 2027, kick-off 15:00.
Premiership Rugby was founded in 1987, when English club rugby first organised itself into a national league, and it is administered by the Rugby Football Union. For its first decade the title went to whoever finished top of the table; the play-off final that decides it now came later and turned a nine-month league into a single afternoon. It is the last fixture of the English club season.
A final between two teams nobody could name a fortnight earlier sells differently from a fixture between two known clubs. The tickets go on the occasion rather than on the sides, so a substantial part of the crowd arrives supporting neither, and Twickenham fills anyway. That is unusual in any sport and close to unique in a domestic club final.
The 2027 final is at Allianz Stadium on Saturday 19 June, kicking off at three. The semi-finals are played at the higher-placed clubs’ own grounds the fortnight before, so the finalists are known with two weeks to go rather than two months. It is the one occasion in the English rugby year that sells out before anyone knows who is playing. Twickenham holds more people than any club ground in the league, several times over, and the final routinely fills it whoever reaches it. The Rugby Football Union administers the league from the same stadium.
