The British Academy gave Conclave four awards, Best Film among them, at the 2025 EE BAFTA Film Awards at the Royal Festival Hall.
British film’s biggest night filled the Royal Festival Hall on the South Bank on Sunday 16 February 2025, when the seventy-eighth EE BAFTA Film Awards named Conclave the year’s Best Film.
The British Academy began when its founders first gathered in Michael Balcon’s suite at the Hyde Park Hotel on 16 April 1947, with David Lean in the chair, to give British filmmaking a body of its own. Its awards are voted by the Academy’s members, and the BBC has broadcast the ceremony since 1956. The film ceremony moved to the Royal Festival Hall in 2023, after spells at the Royal Opera House and the Royal Albert Hall. David Tennant hosted for a second year.
Conclave led the nominations with twelve, ahead of Emilia Pérez with eleven and The Brutalist with nine, and it won four awards: Best Film, Outstanding British Film, Adapted Screenplay and Editing. The Brutalist also won four, including Director for Brady Corbet and Leading Actor for Adrien Brody. Mikey Madison won Leading Actress for Anora, Kieran Culkin won Supporting Actor for A Real Pain and Zoe Saldaña won Supporting Actress for Emilia Pérez. Kneecap took Outstanding Debut, Warwick Davis received the BAFTA Fellowship and David Jonsson won the EE Rising Star Award. Brody, Madison, Saldaña and Culkin each won a BAFTA Film Award for the first time.
