Hyde Park Winter Wonderland Preview Night 2026

Wednesday, 18 November 2026 Hyde Park · Hyde Park

The Royal Parks holds its charity Preview Night in Hyde Park on the eve of Winter Wonderland opening, Wednesday 18 November 2026.

Winter Wonderland opened in Hyde Park on 11 December 2007, put together by an events company with the Royal Parks, and has grown into the largest Christmas event in Britain. It now takes around 2.5 million visitors across its run, which is more than any single sporting fixture in the country draws in a year. The Royal Parks charity, which cares for London’s royal parks and depends on earned income rather than public funding, is its landlord and its beneficiary.

The preview night is a different proposition from the six weeks that follow. It is the evening before the gates open to the public: the rides run, the bars are staffed and the ice rink is cleared, but the crowd is a fraction of what it becomes, so the site can actually be walked and the queues are short. Anyone who has stood in one in the middle of December understands what that is worth.

The 2026 preview is on Wednesday 18 November. Every penny taken on the night goes to the Royal Parks charity rather than to the operator, which is the reverse of the arrangement for the rest of the run. It is the one evening in the run where the access and the money point the same way, and the only one where the park’s own charity keeps the takings.
