Event Designer
/ About the Role
LIT.ME Events is looking for the people who make a room: set designers, event stylists, florists, stationers, calligraphers and graphic designers working on private occasions across London.
The collective is a private circle, and we introduce its members to clients whose occasion calls for their craft. A dinner for forty wants a tablescape, flowers and place cards. A launch wants an identity, signage and a set. When we introduce you, the brief, the fee and the contract are agreed between you and the client direct.
We admit individuals. A studio that trades as a company with its own workshop and fabrication is a supplier, and we hold suppliers separately. Tell us in your application which craft you lead with, because that is what your profile will call you.
/ Responsibilities
What an occasion asks of you varies. In practice, the work is:
- Designing and building sets, installations and backdrops for private and brand occasions
- Styling a room and its tables: linen, glassware, candles and the order they sit in
- Floral design, from a single centrepiece to a ceiling installation
- Invitations, menus, place cards and seating plans, designed or written by hand
- An occasion identity carried through signage, print and the details a guest keeps
- Working to a venue’s access times, load-in rules and fire regulations, and clearing on time
/ Candidate Profile
We look at the work first. That said:
- A portfolio of real occasions, dated and credited, and not only styled shoots
- Recent work: at least one credited occasion in the last twelve months
- Public liability insurance at the level London hotels and private members’ clubs ask to see
- The manner to work in a room with private guests without ever being in the way
- Availability on evenings and weekends, and through the November to December run
- Based in London or able to get here reliably, with the right to work in the UK
