/ About

Christopher's has held its corner of Wellington Street since 1991, a modern American grill set inside a Grade II-listed townhouse that opened in 1870 as London's first licensed casino. The building carries its history lightly: high ceilings, a sweeping staircase and three floors that each keep their own character. A four-month refurbishment by interior designer Lucy Potter, completed in September 2025, brought velvet, marble, leather and brass into every room while leaving the architecture to speak, and refreshed the menus that head chef Francis Agyepong has cooked here for a quarter of a century.

The first-floor restaurant is the room guests arrive into, tall-windowed and green-banquetted above the Covent Garden pavements. Below it sits the Club Room, a self-contained lower-ground space with its own bar, cloakroom and restrooms, wrapped in art-deco marquetry panelling and cubist portraits. On the first floor, partitioned from the main dining room, the Sunset Room looks across Waterloo Bridge and the Lyceum Theatre, and the ground floor keeps an art-deco Martini Bar.

For private events the venue takes each space individually or the whole townhouse on exclusive hire, with bespoke menus and music or entertainment arranged on request. The Club Room is the natural home for a DJ-led private dinner or drinks party: fully sound-separated below ground, with its own bar and audio-visual facilities, it holds forty seated and up to eighty standing.
