The omakase counter at the top of the former Television Centre has been shut since a fire in September 2025, and Endo Kazutoshi is due to cook at ten seats in Chelsea from October.
Endo Kazutoshi calls the Rotunda his home: a counter on the eighth floor of The Helios, the former Television Centre on Wood Lane, with views across West London. It has been closed since the early hours of 6 September 2025, when fire reached the top floors of the building. A year on, the restaurant says it will remain closed until further notice, and its chef’s next counter is in Chelsea, due to open in October.
A hinoki counter on Wood Lane
The room at the Rotunda was designed by the architect Kengo Kuma. Its centre is a counter cut from 200-year-old hinoki, and a meal begins in the machiai, a waiting area modelled on the tea ceremony, before guests take their seats for an omakase that changes with the season. Endo describes every detail, from the crockery to the welcome, as carrying intention.
The fire burned a restaurant, its external decking and the ducting at the top of the nine-storey building. The restaurant thanks the London Fire Brigade and says it is assessing the way forward.
Ten seats in Chelsea
Creative Restaurant Group, which runs the Rotunda, is opening ENDO Chelsea at 8–9 Blacklands Terrace in Chelsea. Endo calls it a new beginning. He cooks in front of each of its ten guests. It is booked to the end of October, with a waiting list beyond. Between the two, he cooked at a pop-up upstairs at Annabel’s, which has now closed.
Neither restaurant says what Chelsea means for the Rotunda.
