Richard Caring’s Caprice Holdings is opening a new restaurant under a shortened old name inside the former US Embassy on Grosvenor Square, with no date published beyond 2026.
Caprice Holdings takes its name from Le Caprice, a brand the group dates to 1947. Its next London opening borrows the name without the article. Caprice, which the group calls a new restaurant concept rather than a return, is due to open inside The Chancery Rosewood on Grosvenor Square in 2026. No month has been published.
A restaurant in the old embassy
The Chancery Rosewood occupies the former US Embassy and is an all-suite hotel with eight restaurants and bars. Its dining pages list Serra, Tobi Masa, Jacqueline, GSQ and the Eagle Bar, and Caprice is not among them yet. In January the group advertised for a general manager to open the restaurant from the ground up, which is the most recent word the operator has published on it.
Plans reported in 2024, when the project was still billed as Le Caprice, described two levels built around a large bar, with a terrace and a private dining room. The group has not confirmed that layout for the new concept, and it may change.
Under Richard Caring
Richard Caring has chaired Caprice Holdings since 2005, and the group’s London restaurants now include Scott’s, J. Sheekey, Daphne’s, Balthazar, Sexy Fish and 34 Mayfair.
